Mortehoe is a small and very picturesque village in North Devon, you can trace its origins back to the Domesday Book, and beyond. In former years it was the haunt of smugglers and wreckers, It really is an area of outstanding beauty with many fantastic walks. Many people comment on the unmistakable beauty of ancient Morte Point. The headland offers stunning views South across Woolacombe Bay or North to the Welsh coast on a clear day. You can walk to Woolacombe by coast from Morte Point or by road which ever you choose. If you go the Morte Point route you will stand a good chance of spotting seals and the occasional dolphin. There is also access to Rockham Beach taking you down a coastal path surrounded with wild flowers and often sheep grazing, so please keep dogs on a lead.

The village also contains a fascinating old church – St Mary's – the first records of which date back to 1258. The Church dates back from Norman times in the churchyard there are several interesting graves including those of ship wrecked sailors. In one winter – that of 1852 - five ships were lost. Each year in August there is a Scarecrow competition as well as tractor rides from the Mortehoe Heritage Centre. There is so much to do in the area with 2 golf clubs, shops, surfing, walking plus lots more to keep you entertained.
